Hartford is a town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The population was 963 people, 364 households and 270 families at the 2000 census. The town has a total area of 45.1 square miles (43.9 square miles land, 1.2 square miles water).

 

 

There were 583 housing units at an average density of 13.3 square miles. The racial makeup is: 97.72% White, 0.10% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.10% from other races, 1.45% from 2 or more races.

 

For every 100 females, there were 102.3 males. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.08.
